My name is Joao and I am based in Brighton (UK), where I work as a microbiology lecturer. Started collecting microscopes some years ago. A kind of a weird, but enjoyable hobby ;)
And it happens I can also use this stuff in some of my outreach activities :-)
I maintain a webpage about my microscope collection (www.microscopemuseum.uk), also translated in Portuguese (www.museudomicroscopio.eu).
And just started this online forum for anyone interested in these amazing instruments, their history and uses. I hope this online forum may become a nice and interesting community to share information and experiences.
